CITY OF SAFETY HARBOR: This time of year, the trees are heavily shedding their leaves

Fall leaves

City Of Safety Harbor issued the following announcement on Mar. 04.

This time of year, the trees are heavily shedding their leaves.

Blowing or sweeping yard clippings (grass, brush, etc.) and leaves into the street or curb can clog storm drains and storm pipes causing street flooding during rain events. Yard debris can also choke, suffocate, or disable aquatic life when it reaches a waterbody.

Blowing yard clippings and leaves into the street is classified as an illicit discharge under City Code of Ordinance Sec. 24.69(b). Help keep our streets, curbs, and stormwater system clean by placing yard clippings and leaves in your City-issued garbage can or bagged and placed curbside for pick-up on your regular garbage day.

Keep in mind that March 13-15, 2023, is Spring Cleanup! During these Quarterly Cleanup dates, the City will pick up all bulk items - furniture, appliances, yard waste and other properly prepared non-exempt items. All bulk collections will be performed on the regular curbside garbage collection day. A mechanical truck will collect any items that cannot be collected by the regular curbside collection vehicle during the collection week. Normal restrictions for collection apply.
