The Ruth Eckerd Hall is featuring the eighth annual Drag Queen Christmas show on Dec. 29.  “A Drag Queen Christmas,” which is open for all ages, will have its last stop in Clearwater.

Journalist Tayler Hansen shared the details of the Dec. 15 show he attended at the Moody Theater in Austin. He described the show’s obscenity in lurid detail in a series of tweets. The show is part of a 36-city tour. In one of his tweets, Hansen asked “What is “family friendly” or appropriate for “all ages” about this? He also noted that “The host of this show, Nina West, is affiliated with Disney+ AND Nickelodeon…”

“‘All Ages’ Drag Queen Christmas Mega Thread,” Hansen wrote on Twitter. “Yesterday, a blatantly sexualized show meant to groom children was hosted in Austin, TX. This is a national tour with 36 shows in 18 different states, including DC. There is much to go over so it will be covered in this thread. This performer paraded around with his 'tits in a box' and shook his buttocks for the crowd. At one point the Drag Queen said 'are you reaching for my titties are you hungry' to a child in the audience. Throughout the Drag Queen talking he had multiple people spank him.”

Hansen noted that the “‘Screwdolph the Red Nippled Reindeer" performance "simulated sex countless times, sexualized a child’s story, including Santa, and had sexual videos playing in the background. When the host asked a child what his favorite part of the show is he replied ‘nothing.’” Another part featured "men with kink harnesses grab their privates, grind, and simulate humping. The Drag Queen talked to a 9-year-old named Major and then addressed the mother of the child. ‘You are such an awesome mom for bringing your kid out to a FAMILY FRIENDLY DRAG SHOW.’” The show also had performers who "were all grinding and making other sexual gestures." Hansen said that at the end of the performance, the lead performer "licks his ‘Peppermint breasts’ and the host, Nina West, says ‘mmm minty fresh’.”

“‘Crystal Methyd’ performed to 'S&M' by Rihanna, grinding back and forth on a chain used as one of his costume props. $10 already, I think I have a fan. Obsessed much? It’s a child! ‘I’ve got to think outside the box what am I going to do? EASY, make Jacob Marley a whore,’” Hansens wrote. “This Drag queen had a lot to say to children who were in the front row who were being given money by their mother to hand to the Drag Queens. He engaged with two different children, a 9 and 10-year-old. ‘Are you having fun, are you enjoying it, are you confused yet?’”

A game initiated by West "involved giving explicit details of sexual encounters," according to Hansen. Sharing a video on Twitter, Hansen noted that West detailed his sex with her dad's coworker in his office. The video also showed an audience member sharing his explicit story as well. In one segment, parents who brought their children to the show were applauded: 'We need more mothers like you in the world, thank you so much.’

“Over 20 children were in attendance at this show. These are the kinds of shows being marketed as 'all ages' and 'family friendly'. Activists try to spin these shows as being educational and important to LGBTQ rights. It will be interesting to see how they try to spin this one,” Hansen said. “These were the event details prior to the tour, for some reason they removed the portion where it talks about being the ‘naughty tour’. Now it simply states it is an ‘All Ages’ Drag Show.”

Over the final two weeks of the month, the Drag Queen Christmas Tour 2022 will continue to sweep the nation. The remaining tour dates are Omaha, Neb. – Dec. 16; Dallas, Texas – Dec. 17; Wichita, Kan. – Dec. 18; Kansas City, Mo. – Dec. 20; St. Louis, Mo. – Dec. 21; Knoxville, Tenn. – Dec. 22; Charleston, S.C. – Dec. 23; Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Dec. 26; Miami, Fla. – Dec. 27; Orlando, Fla. – Dec. 28; Clearwater, Fla. – Dec 29, according to dragfans.com.

Hansen gave credit to the Texas Family Project for the report. “Given the increasingly hostile progressive attacks on parents and children, Texas families cannot afford to be without a political cavalry to defend them. That is why we created the Texas Family Project. TFP is a pro-family organization advocating for Texas families, and fighting to protect and defend their interests,” the group notes on its website.

Supporters and protestors were at the San Antonio showing of A Drag Queen Christmas. “Since we are dealing with people’s rights, we are not going against LGBTQ,” Ramon Garza, the vice president of This Is Texas Freedom Force (TITFF) told CBS affiliate KENS 5 News. “We are saying that we do not like that these shows are not age-restricted, and that’s a primary reason we are here.”
