City Of Safety Harbor issued the following announcement on Sep. 20.
DIVERSITY ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR MESSAGE – VACCINE AWARENESS
My name is Lewis Ponds, Jr. and I am the Chair of the City's Diversity Advisory Board.
I chose to get vaccinated because the health and safety of our whole community is contingent upon all of us being protected. The known benefit far outweighs the risk. When enough people are vaccinated against COVID-19, it can be stopped from spreading. For me, this means that even those who cannot receive the vaccine due to being vulnerable are protected. Like my friend, Leonard who lives right here in Safety Harbor. I did it for him.
Immunizing ourselves and our children against infectious diseases today is an invaluable gift to future generations. Suppressing diseases in the present will allow people in the future to live longer and healthier lives. Like my niece, Daija. I did it for her.
Consider getting vaccinated, not only for you, but for those who cannot and for future generations to come.
Sincerely,
Lewis Ponds, Jr.
