CITY OF LARGO: Join the Virtual Launch of the Largo Community Composting Program

Zoooom

City of Largo issued the following announcement.

Composting bins will be coming soon! Please pre-register to reserve your bin today and check back in mid-October for the program launch including educational materials and other composting tips.

Join the City of Largo live on Facebook (fb.com/CityofLargo) on Friday, October 16 at 12pm, in honor of World Food Day to celebrate the launch of the Community Composting Program. This live webinar will answer all of your questions about composting and give you an opportunity to ask questions directly to our experts at Keep Pinellas Beautiful.

The Largo Community Composting Program encourages waste reduction and helps create a more sustainable Largo. Composting is easy to do and has numerous benefits including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved soil health, and reduced fertilizer use. By placing food scraps and other organic materials in your compost bin, you can easily create rich soil to use in your yard or garden.

City of Largo residents can request delivery of a free, 100 percent recycled, compost bin to their home. These bins will be available while supplies last, are limited to one per household, and since they are open-bottomed containers, are not suitable for most apartments or condos. Visit LargoRecycles.com today to pre-register to reserve your bin today and check back in mid-October for the program launch including educational materials and other composting tips.

For questions about composting, acceptable materials and other issues with your soil, contact Keep Pinellas Beautiful at KPBCares.org or for questions about your compost bin or requesting bin delivery, contact Largo Public Works at Compost@largo.com or 727-586-7418.
