City of St. Petersburg issued the following announcement.
Pinellas County teens showcase their talent in eight categories at the City of St. Petersburg’s Mayor’s Youth Showcase of Achievement. An evening is dedicated to recognizing excellence in middle and high school students at the 10th Annual Mayor’s Youth Showcase of Achievement on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 7 p.m., at the Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S., St. Petersburg.
The showcase is an opportunity to feature and encourage the hard work, dedication and successes of youth in the community. For teens to be recognized, a nomination form must be submitted in one or more of the diverse categories to choose from: academic achievement, scholar athlete, citizenship or leadership, visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, science and technology or overcoming adversity. Nomination forms can be submitted via the new online registration at www.stpete.org/teenawards or by mail. Nomination deadline is Friday, April 17.
A panel of judges will determine the top three finalists in each category. All nominations will be recognized at the showcase. Each contender will receive two tickets to attend. $25,000 will be awarded in cash and prizes. Winners receive a prize package, including a $300 savings account from floridacentral Credit Union and an iPad mini. Two runners-up in each category receive a prize package including a $100 savings account from floridacentral Credit Union and more. Free to apply.
