Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center was identified as the third largest nursing home in Pinellas County in the first quarter of 2026, tied with Marion and Bernard L Samson Nursing Center and Oak Manor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) show.
The center offered 180 beds, exceeding the Pinellas County average by 67 during the opening quarter of 2026, and reported an average daily resident count of 170.5.
The overall rating for Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center was 3 out of 5, according to CMS, which falls below the 3.3 statewide average for nursing facilities across Florida.
Balanced Healthcare had the largest capacity in the county for the quarter with 299 available beds, followed by Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation, which had 244 beds.
Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center did not incur any fines or penalties during the initial quarter of 2026.
Pinellas County reported 53 for-profit nursing home facilities at this time.
The older adult population in the U.S. continues to grow as the number of younger Americans declines, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. From 2020 to 2024, the population age 65 and above expanded by 13%, while those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The older adult population in the United States has seen substantial increases over the past century, surging from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.
A study from 2021 indicates that as many as 28 million adults age 65 and older may need long-term care and support, with projections stating that more than one-third of them could eventually require nursing home services.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
